Civil Society Participation in the European Rule of Law Report

On October 26, 2026, FIADYS will host an in-person event in Madrid titled “The Importance of Civil Society Participation in the European Rule of Law Report.” This event aims to bring this European process closer to civil society organizations and encourage their participation.

The meeting takes place within the framework of the European project STAKEHOLDERS – Mobilising Citizens as Stakeholders in the Protection of the Rule of Law in Europe, an initiative seeking to bring the European rule of law cycle closer to citizens and strengthen civil society’s involvement in its protection.

The event is aimed both at organizations already participating in the European Rule of Law Report that wish to share their experience, and at those that have not yet made contributions but want to learn how to get involved. No prior experience or specialized knowledge of the process is required.

Throughout the morning, we will explain how the European Rule of Law Report works, the types of information organizations can provide, and how to identify—based on their own work and experience—insights that may be relevant. Social entities can contribute across a wide range of areas, such as institutional quality, transparency and integrity, the fight against corruption, the functioning of the justice system, freedom of information, citizen participation, and the space for civil society.

The event will feature the participation of Safira Cantos Salah, Director General of the Hay Derecho Foundation, and David Martínez García, Executive Director of Transparency International Spain. Additionally, practical sessions will be held to help organizations prepare future contributions to the report.

A coffee break will be included.
